Because every family deserves to live in harmony.

Because every family deserves to live in harmony.

Hi, I’m Megan Barella.

I have a master’s degree in Conflict Resolution and am a compassionate and passionate advocate for the human rights of children and their parents. For the last 12 years, I’ve been helping parents heal their families one home at a time.

Credentials:

  • MS, Conflict Resolution from PSU (2017)
  • BA, English Education 7-12 from Ithaca College (1999)
  • U.S. Peace Corps – Philippines (1999 – 2001)
  • Collaborative Practice – Divorce from CPTI and Member at OACP (2023)
  • Parenting Coordination and Member at AFCC (2023)
  • Moms and Race Training with Alexandra Loves (2021)
  • Allyship Activation Program with Lekeshia Angelique Consulting (2021)
  • Positive Discipline Early Childhood Educator (2019)
  • Master Trainer for Early Childhood Educators with ORO (2018)
  • ICEA Childbirth Educator (2017)
  • Certified Positive Discipline Parent Educator (2010)
  • Family Mediator from Resolutions Northwest (2008)
  • Mediation and Negotiation from PSU (2006)
  • 20 years in Education
  • 10 years as a Positive Parenting Educator and Coach

My Why:

When my son was 18 months old, I heard his baby spirit whisper in my ear, “If you really want to serve children, help their parents.” That began my journey supporting the upliftment of parents.

I’ve also worked as an educator for 20 years. Teaching students from the preschool to high school years, I’ve worked with young people in upstate NY, inner New York City, Portland and rural Oregon, and in the Philippines.

I “get” young people: both their fundamental, yet individual basic human needs and their unique strengths, gifts, and highest potentials. Parents tell me  I have a 6th sense about what their children need, without ever meeting them.  Over 50% of the families I work with (the kids and/or parents) are neurodiverse.

I began studying Interpersonal Neurobiology in graduate school and never stopped. While I’ve been privileged to access amazing educational opportunities, my true education is from the thousands of parents, caregivers, and teachers I’ve been blessed to support.

Happy Home was co-created from real parents’ real-life needs, struggles, and gifts, including my own experience as a child abuse survivor.

My advocacy for the human rights of children began in my own home when I was still in elementary school. I’m also a 3rd generation single mom and domestic violence survivor.

I bring the calling to heal negative intergenerational cycles in families and in our world to every family I work with, including my own.

My work is my soul’s purpose and duty.

Transcending the fields of parenting and co-parenting education and coaching, my mission is to help families: truly heal, end fear-based discipline practices, create a positive future for the next generation, and uplift our human family.

Lastly, in my free time, you can find me out in nature, on the dance floor, making art, taking care of my houseplants,  second-hand shopping, laughing with friends and family, or chatting with strangers.

I meditate daily, have been a student of Vedanta for the last 20 years, and am deeply committed to “unity in diversity.”  I follow the wise words: “No one is stranger. The whole world is our own.”

It’s lovely to meet you here.

A heartfelt welcome to the Happy Home community, movement, and family.

We believe in you.
