this week
i turned
42

i still think
of my mom
as 40
so it's
always like
huh?
how old am again?
looking around for
the grown-up
in the room
oh, that's me

it's an odd combo
because
i feel
simultaneously
like i was a born
an old woman
+
that i'm younger
than ever

age is nothing
but a number
and hopefully
some added
wisdom

birthdays
+
aging...

Picture

but i love
the reflection
the growth
of my birthday

every year
i spend
my day of birth
all cozy
at a coffee shop
with my
selection of pens
journal
paper + google
calendars

ready to wrap up
the last year of me
step into the new

this year
i color-coded
my entire
google calendar
for the year
brings me such joy

spent the day
slowing down
enjoying my life
planning for
the next phase
of me

Picture

it's taken me
a long time
to get there
but now
i truly love
my birthdays

i had to realize
i can't wait
for anyone else
to make me feel
special
loved
worthy of celebrating
that has to all come
from within

once that clicked
my life
(and my birthdays)
have been
so much
simpler + happier

i also
vision board
every year
around my birthday

this year
with my sister
the pic at the top
is from our vision board
session this weekend

my niece accidentally
bathed me in glitter
hence
the rebirth
by glitter
it was like
dunking my head
in a waterfall

here's
my bday art 2018
setting the tone
for 2019

    Mama Megan

Hi friends,  I write from the heart to tell my life story, and the story of those in my neighborhood called life. Research shows that our children's emotional & mental health is contingent upon us parents being able to tell our life story, or "coherent narrative."  This is my coherent narrative, my life story in the making, with some of what I love in life too. My goal is to share my life in a way that is real, uplifting & positive- sometimes serious, sometimes fun. In my practice, I inspire parents to empowerment through reclaiming our life stories and learning respectful discipline. My work is my offering to our children- our future. Wishing you all a happy family!
