A Positive Mind

The Hardest Fight. The Biggest Struggle.

Every day on Facebook I get a reminder that we shape our own reality. "Happiness is an inside job." Great. Thanks. I feel the pressure. Is it my fault? Am I just missing it?  Sleeping through my own happy life.  I truly believe we create our own reality. And often life feels too hard. Is too hard. And there's no magic wand.

Pain is pain. Will always be there. Injustice happens. If we didn't feel any of the pain, we'd be in a cold, cold world. To be in our highest place as a people, we gotta feel it all: love and pain.

What's the balance? What keeps us Strong in the Love when we're swimming in pain? For the whole "happy life" thing, well that comes and goes. And when we're swimming in pain, we can start to feel unworthy. Ashamed. Hopeless. Trapped in a maze of life. I been there. Just last week.

The problem is not the pain, for that will always be there. There is a solution to pain overload. And it does come from within. Yes, "happiness is an inside job." The solution? A Positive Mind.  A Positive Mind is Golden. Worth a trillion dollars. Yes, a Positive Mind is a conscious choice. Ultimately, in our own hands. But we do need help. We're not meant to do it alone.

So if you are judging yourself because you can't quite get there; you can't quite live your Positive Mind, please don't blame yourself. We weren't taught how to live our Positive Mind. Our society, it's all orientated on the negative. When we switch our compass to the positive, well that's how we live a good life through the pain. But we can't do it alone. And, in the beginning especially, it is a hard fight. A big struggle.

I wish this post was more about the how to's of a Positive Mind. I gotta accept where I'm at in life. And I'm getting there, my friends. That grand shift from the negative to the positive. I'll share my process with you. But for now, I just want you to know: it's not your fault if you feel down. If life has beaten you down, I wrap a big motherly hug around you. I believe in you. I believe in me. In all of us.  Our Positive Mind. The road to our Life Purpose.

Oh Megan! Another beautifully written, beautifully felt blog! I don't know about the positive mind thing. I think it's ok to have periods of negativity but I think we have to be honest about. A always positive attitude is unrealistic - I think. I'm uncomfortable around always positive people. I connect with negative moments AND i aways share my own negative moments. I feel more human sharing disappointments and mistakes. The best thing is to realize we share the same human weaknesses and die laughing about them. Laughing together at our shared negativity is some of the best laughs with the best friends I've made in my life.

Thanks, Mrs. Rinko. I totally agree- I am a fan of being real and the negative is a part of life. What I was going for is that as a whole our societal orientation is fear-based, negative, doubtful, and mistrusting, rather than positive and rooted in trust, love, cooperation, and all that is life-affirming. This is one of my themes for the year, so more to come. Thanks for all your wisdom & support! :)

    Mama Megan

Hi friends,  I write from the heart to tell my life story, and the story of those in my neighborhood called life. Research shows that our children's emotional & mental health is contingent upon us parents being able to tell our life story, or "coherent narrative."  This is my coherent narrative, my life story in the making, with some of what I love in life too. My goal is to share my life in a way that is real, uplifting & positive- sometimes serious, sometimes fun. In my practice, I inspire parents to empowerment through reclaiming our life stories and learning respectful discipline. My work is my offering to our children- our future. Wishing you all a happy family!
